  2. Looks nice. Can you comment on the poses? I sorta like the models, but they feel very static to me, with the legs seeming very... awkward? Stilted? Unnatural? It's hard to put into words, exactly, but they seem to be sort of just attached on almost as an afterthought.

Other than that I like them, as they have some of the best variety of poses of any TWC available on the web, but...

  3. I really like your wolf conversions! Especially the armor.

The posing on these wolf mounts is pretty good. We are no longer left with the task of converting canis, the only GW model out there with an accurate wolf mount into different poses. Honestly, I have recasted the canis model into resin form 6 times and I still couldn’t find a good incision point to cut the model to produce new poses. Love it or hate it, the orginal canis model provides us with some very distinct design languages to mimic for a true thunderwolf mount.
As far as mr.dandy’s models; here is my scoring break down below:
    Sculpt design: 7/10
    • Although there are 5 different poses in the sculpts, there are fundamental problems with the design. Firstly, I do not think the armored sections represent enough of what the space wolves are about. I am not asking for copyrighted material like the Aquila or “rus” to be sculpted on. The problems lie within the general “feel” of the models.
    • Secondly, the armor designs seems to be a bit too fundamental. I feel the design is lacking detail. These are not small models, I would expect more panel lines on the armor.
    • Thirdly, this is the biggest issue of all! I really don’t like the feet of the wolves. They seem a bit chubby. They remind me of inflatable balloon figures clowns make for kids. If anything I do not feel the feet flows well with the rest of the body as they seem a bit cartoonish. Almost like cute wolf paws… which isn’t very space wolves at all.
    Craftsmanship: 9/10
    • The craftsmanship is superb… these wolves come with mostly a main body with 2 legs attached, 2 loose legs to attach, tail and for some models, the lower jaw of the wolf is also a separated part along with the lower torso with marine legs as the rider. My biggest concern is there is a runner piece attaching to all the pointed edges of the teeth. These are really hard to cut out accurately and neatly. Aside from this issue, all the parts join in really well with the help of some pinning work. Minimal green stuff was used just to putty up the joinage gaps. This is a lot better than most of the GW models.
    Pricing: 7/10
    • X5 wolf mounts + shipping to Hong Kong from Long Beach, California is roughly around $103 usd. So each mount comes to around $20.6 usd which is under $160 hkd. This isn’t a big deal but my issue is, these models are from an independent manufacturer. Its still hard for me to fathom people commanding such high premiums for something they just continuously recast. I can understand, maybe the first 100 pcs should be a bit expensive, but as time plays out, they should be getting cheaper.
    Scale accuracy: 10/10
    • I’ve heard people say canis’ mount looks like an oversized squirrel, I cannot agree more. However, mr.dandy’s scaling looks pretty good. The legs are a bit thicker, the snout of the wolf head is properly defined. The wolves look a bit hunched on the back but like it says in the SW codex, under thunderwolf mounts, it does say these wolves anatomical structure has more in common with a terran rhinoceroid than an actual wolf. This seemed to translate pretty well with mr. dandy’s models.

That’s it for now, hope this answers your questions abusepuppy!!!
